ATHLETICS HIGHLIGHTS
SOCCER:
A team of mainly freshmen and seniors, our soccer team continued to build on skills to lay a foundation for years to come. Our senior leaders: Jason Chavez, Kevyn Chavez, Oscar Cortes, Chris Rodriguez, and Nick Soria have played for the program all four years of their Saint Martin career, and worked hard to share with the freshmen the importance of hard work, commitment, and teamwork. The soccer team nished their season losing in the Lake E ect Conference quarter nals to Hearts for Jesus and lost in the state sectional tournament to Columbia High School. Of special note, senior, Jason Chavez, won 2nd Team All-Conference.
CROSS COUNTRY:
A small but mighty cross country team, our ve male runners made some great improvements in their times this year. Led by a group of senior male runners who have run for the last four years, the cross country team improved times each week this season. Senior Will Mikel and sophomore Christen Williams both nished in the top 25 in the Lake E ect Conference Championship meet.
VOLLEYBALL:
JV & Varsity Volleyball had another successful year. Our Lady Lions had the opportunity to go to Chicago, IL, to play in the Cristo Rey Queens of the Court Tournament. Playing four other Cristo Rey schools, our Lions took home the trophy, going undefeated at the tournament. In conference play, the team lost to conference champions Open Door Christian School in the semi nals of the conference tournament. For the rst time in school history, we had a player named All Conference MVP, senior Alaysia DuPree. Also of note, Symfene Sizemore ’20 was named 1st Team All-Conference and Isabella Tirado ’20 was named 2nd Team All-Conference.
