SANIA BAKER ’21
Making the world a little more colorful with her bright smile and attention to detail, Sania Baker ’21 spends every Wednesday working with her colleagues at Sherwin-Williams in downtown Cleveland. One of eight total students who work in various departments across Sherwin-Williams, Sania can be found in the center of action in the Customer Service Department.
Sania’s workday consists of entering statements into di erent computer systems that her department uses every day. After being trained in how to enter one type of statement, Sania’s supervisor Bruce saw
how quickly she picked up the task and decided to introduce her to more di cult types of statements including Airgas and Fullsource. Although she enjoys data entry and computer work, Sania loves participating in meetings with her colleagues. “Sometimes I have no idea what is going on because the topic is way above my head, but attending meetings has given me insight into a professional setting and has taught me a lot of new things.” Outside of o ce work, Sania has also visited di erent companies and plants involved in Sherwin-Williams to see where and how they make paint.
As she enters her senior year at Saint Martin next year, Sania’s experience at Sherwin-Williams has sparked her interest
in pursuing a career in Customer Service upon graduation. After expressing this to her supervisor, he began looking into a summer program for Sania to attend that trains people in Customer Service to further her skills and abilities. Sania’s favorite part of working at Sherwin-Williams is how kind and welcoming her coworkers are to her. “For my birthday, they even set up balloons, decorated my cubicle, and brought in donuts, which showed me that I was part of the team and how much they enjoy me being there.”
Sania’s Corporate Work Study experience and involvement at Saint Martin has made her more well- rounded and has set her up for success post graduation. Through her experience with Sherwin-Williams and her previous job at PolyOne, Sania is excited to see what life after Saint Martin has in store for her. “I am so thankful to Saint Martin for caring so deeply about us as individuals and that is re ected in the work study program. I am gaining exposure that other high school students do not get and it will set me way ahead of my peers as I enter into college and the professional world.”
