It was a week of considerable news coverage for Saint Martin de Porres high school as local news outlets reported on a variety of topics throughout our region. Below we make it easy to see our incredible students, staff, administration and alumni featured throughout the week.
Wednesday was the National School Walkout day in remembrance of the 17 people killed in the Stoneman Douglas school shooting in Florida. Students all over America brought awareness to the need of ending gun violence. Saint Martin students carried signs and marched down St. Clair avenue stretching west all the way down to East 61st street for 17 minutes from 10-10:17 am while cars honked their horns in support of the students efforts. Long time Cleveland news persoanlity Denise Dufala spoke on WTAM about how impressed she was with our students at 12:45 of The Spew with Mike Trivisonno. WEWS captured the day in pictures, and Cleveland.com mentioned Saint Martin in their coverage of what schools did across the area.
Sia Nyorkor of WOIO came to the school on Thursday and spoke to Saint Martin students, co-principal Ryan Hurley, and 2009 alum and project engineer Ricardo Henry about our brand new state-of-the-art school building. The story was also picked up by CBS affiliate WTOL in Toledo.
Sunday morning we were proud to be featured for an entire half hour by Harry Boomer on his show Cle 43 Focus on WUAB-TV 43. Harry had President Rich Clark, Vice President of Corporate Work Study, Ann Davis, and 2012 Saint Martin alum Ameer Ward in studio. The show profiled many features that makes our school community so special, and all the excitement surrounding the future with the opening of our new home at 6202 St. Clair.
We were also thrilled to see Saint Martin 2008 alum Gary Martin release his brand new podcast by featuring Rich Clark. The show, titled "If You Build It They Will Come", highlighted President Clark's journey into founding a brand new Cristo Rey Network high school in Cleveland, Saint Martin de Porres.
The big week of coverage showed our region what our school family already knows, that we are #SaintMartinStrong.
