The Fedeli Group: Meet Shane Cummings '19

Upon entering the Crowne Centre on Rockside Road in Independence it is immediately clear that this could be an incredible place to work. Plenty of glass and natural light, a gorgeous chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and soothing sounds from the waterfall make the ambiance ideal. This is what junior Shane Cummings walks into each day he works at the Fedeli Group.

For more than 3 decades, the Fedeli Group has helped clients protect assets and enhance employee outcomes through the delivery of exceptional risk management and employee benefit consulting services and products. “We are committed to earning the respect and loyalty of our clients every day. Thus, we believe that providing outstanding service to others can be a source of pride, dignity, and honor.” Umberto P. Fedeli, Founder and CEO, states right in their mission statement. They strive to give their clients a world class experience and that starts from the moment you walk in the door at Crowne Centre. The Fedeli offices are stunning, and visitors are greeted with pictures of numerous dignitaries, politicians, athletes, and other well-known celebrities. The entire operation exudes charm, and the staff treats Shane with the utmost respect and admiration while he is with them.

Shane is an athlete, running track and cross country, and leading the offense as the point guard for the basketball Lions. At Fedeli he uses that same urgency, sense of awareness, and ability to assist others to be successful with all of his tasks throughout the day. The common theme addressed by all of his colleagues is that he is always willing to assist wherever needed. “Shane is a great young man. He’s respectful to everyone, helps out wherever he can and a great pleasure to have in the office,” said Ryan Milligan, Fedeli Group Director, Information Technology. Personalized Manager, Debbie May, echoed those same thoughts, “We love having him here. Shane is like one of our kids. He’s a hard worker and willing to help anybody.”

Because of the nature of their business, the mailroom is an essential cog in the Fedeli Group machine. Shane spends much of his time running the mail machine, which is his favorite job within the office. He also will pick up the mail, sort it and deliver it to the proper staff. “I love the people. They are super nice and really care about me. Mrs. May is like my mom away from home.”

The Fedeli Group has been involved with Saint Martin and the Corporate Work Study Program since Saint Martin was founded. They understand its importance within our community. “All of the kids we’ve had have been great,” said Milligan. “One of the nice things about having the students in the office is they help us stay young, and we’ve grown close to our students.”

“I chose Saint Martin because I like that we get to work, and now I also really like the education we get,” said Shane.

Shane is one of nicest young men we’ve ever had here. He’s smart, kind, and always willing to help,” concluded Mary Ellen Gillenwater, Fedeli Group Office Coordinator.
