Providing students of modest economic means with a college preparatory education aimed at helping young men and women develop the habits of mind and spirit that will enable them to be successful in college, in their careers, and in life.

Providing meaningful opportunities for professionals to interact with and mentor students while making a difference in their lives. Over 100 Cleveland-area businesses, firms, and non-profits have partnered with Saint Martin.

Saint Martin invites students into our school community who are committed to academic, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical growth. During the admissions process, Saint Martin reviews academic, disciplinary, and attendance records, as well as teacher recommendations.

While we are serious about preparing students for college and career success, we also believe that school should be fun! Caring for the whole student, we believe that involvement in extracurriculars is essential to continuing to form talented, well-rounded, and interesting individuals.

“No one looks at me and sees a child, they see a hard worker.  It’s so easy for me to interact with these adults. It’s like I’m one of them.”

At Saint Martin, learning doesn’t just take place in the classroom. Five days out of each month, each student participates in a Corporate Work Study Program job at a site in Northeast Ohio.  Students like Kevyn, pictured here, work in real jobs at real companies, alongside full-time employees through a program that complements our academic curriculum.

On his assigned work days, Kevyn arrives at school in uniform and enjoys breakfast with his friends, but at 7:50 when many students report to their first period class, Kevyn grabs a bagged lunch and takes the quick ride to his job at Tucker Ellis, a law firm in downtown Cleveland. At the beginning of his Saint Martin career, Kevyn participated in New Student Orientation and in CWS training, so he is comfortable with both the logistics of the program as well as the important role he plays at Tucker Ellis and the role that Tucker Ellis can play in his education.

Upon his arrival to the records department at Tucker Ellis, Kevyn is greeted by a supervisor and colleagues who are expecting him and who have important tasks ready for his attention.  Kevyn’s supervisor provides him with assignments that challenge him appropriately and that are crucial to the success of the firm. He receives feedback on his work, learning how to improve in certain areas and how to build on his success in others. Other than short breaks and time for lunch, Kevyn remains busy throughout the day, reporting back on completed tasks and asking for more work when he completes an assignment.

At the end of the work day, Saint Martin provides transportation back to school, and Kevyn reconvenes with his friends who spent their day working at other sites throughout Northeast Ohio. After a day of work, many of our students remain at school for athletics, extra-curriculars or community service opportunities while others leave for jobs outside of school. The effort our students put in to their academics, their jobs, their extra-curriculars and their friendships leads to enormous growth over the course of four years.

Saint Martin students are scholars and young professionals. They are men and women of faith, purpose and service.
