As the Class of 2026 prepares to walk across the stage on May 31, Sharae has already spent the past four years making her mark both at Saint Martin and at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. During her time at Saint Martin, she has been actively involved in cheer, dance, student ambassadors, and served as a leader for the sophomore retreat.
For the last four years, Sharae has worked in the Community Development and Engagement Development departments at the Federal Reserve, where she concentrated on research and community outreach. Her supervisor Elaine Suárez Rodríguez, Engagement Program Senior Specialist, has been instrumental in Sharae’s development. “I feel like I’m more than just a Student Associate to her,” Sharae shared, explaining that Elaine guided her through the college research process to help her find the best fit for her future. Elaine also created opportunities for Sharae to explore different career paths during her time at the Federal Reserve by connecting her with professionals in the healthcare field.
At Saint Martin, Sharae enjoys English, particularly writing and public speaking, skills that translate directly to her CWS job. She helps write articles for the Federal Reserve’s Volunteer Week communications, allowing her to apply what she learns in the classroom to real-world experiences. She shares that participating in public speaking activities in English class helps her communicate more confidently and clearly with adults. In addition to writing, Sharae assists with researching low-income communities and gathering contact information to support events hosted by the Federal Reserve. The project she is most proud of during her time there is the recent “Bring Your Child to Work Day” event, where she planned activities for children and helped coordinate the execution of the event. “My work is very family-oriented. We have a good time around each other, and it helps me be my best self,” Sharae says. She also recalls one of her favorite memories at work during Halloween. “I was so impressed with everyone’s costumes. It was such a fun day,” she shares.
With graduation just a few weeks away, Sharae has had the opportunity to reflect on the lasting impact of Corporate Work Study on her personal and professional growth. “I’m ahead of my peers,” Sharae shared, explaining that CWS has equipped her with valuable real-world experience and confidence that many students her age have not yet had the chance to develop. Sharae has learned how to network and communicate effectively with adults and build meaningful connections in the workplace. She believes these experiences have prepared her not only for college but also for her future career. From collaborating with coworkers to taking initiative on projects and events, Sharae has developed skills in leadership, organization, and professionalism that she will carry with her long after graduation.
This fall, Sharae will be attending Kent State University, majoring in Nursing and minoring in Psychology, where she intends to become a Psychiatric Nurse.
