Elijah ’27’s Digital Media Journey at the Diocese

The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland is a founding Corporate Work Study partner, playing a vital role in shaping young minds since 2018. Through its commitment to professional formation and faith based values, the diocese provides students with meaningful, real world work experiences that help prepare them for future careers. Over the past two years, Deacon Jeff Stutzman, Senior Director of Digital Communications Strategy and his colleagues in the communication department have made a significant impact through their mentorship of student associate Elijah ’27.

Elijah has been a student associate at the Diocese since his sophomore year, and Deacon Jeff shares that his contributions are truly valued. In his role, Elijah supports the production of the diocese’s bi monthly magazine, assisting with mailing and communicating with advertising partners. He has also taken part in interviews for their videos, where he contributed by asking thoughtful follow up questions. Through this hands-on experience, Elijah is building essential digital media skills while learning how to navigate a professional environment.

Along the way, Elijah is leveraging this opportunity to explore what careers exist in the film industry. “I was really impressed when Elijah shared that he’s becoming interested in digital film,” Deacon Jeff noted. “It’s really important that we align what we need with Elijah’s interests, so he can continue to grow while also contributing in meaningful ways.” As his interests continue to develop, Elijah has begun taking on additional responsibilities from the Multimedia Senior Director, further expanding his experience and exposure to the field.

Elijah has also demonstrated a level of professionalism that impresses everyone he encounters at the Diocese. “He shows up on time, checks in, and gets to work,” Deacon Jeff shared, adding that Elijah’s strong work ethic has not gone unnoticed. In fact, other departments have begun requesting his help, giving him the opportunity to explore different areas of the Diocese and broaden his experience. For Deacon Jeff, one of the most rewarding aspects of his role as a supervisor has been watching Elijah grow professionally.
