Discovering What’s Possible at East Clark

A simple conversation with a family member was all it took to pique Dr. Nichole Price’s interest in Saint Martin’s transformative Corporate Work Study program. After learning more about the program and witnessing its impact on her family member, Dr. Price saw an opportunity to bring the benefits of Corporate Work Study to East Clark Elementary School. By welcoming Saint Martin students onsite to support teachers and assist with classroom activities, she has helped create meaningful experiences that foster growth, build connections, and provide valuable hands-on learning for Saint Martin students.

East Clark Elementary School has been a Corporate Work Study partner for the past seven years, with Dr. Nichole Price, Family Support Specialist, serving as a supervisor for all seven years. This year, four Saint Martin students are gaining valuable experience, including two freshmen and two sophomores. “I have been so impressed with these students,” says Dr. Price, as she describes the professionalism, maturity, and work ethic they bring to East Clark.

During their workday at East Clark, student associates assist teachers with grading, classroom activities, and a variety of day-to-day tasks. Dr. Price is passionate about giving students the opportunity to explore the many different areas of a school and understand what goes on behind the scenes. “I want these students to learn all aspects of what it takes to run a school,” says Dr. Price. Beyond assisting in the classroom, she exposes student associates to administrative tasks and other areas of school operations, allowing them to discover different roles and gain a well-rounded understanding of the school environment.

She recalls Kaitlin ’25, who spent three years as a student associate at East Clark Elementary School. Initially, Kaitlin had no plans to pursue a career in education. However, through her hands-on experience in the elementary school setting, she discovered a passion for teaching and decided to pursue a degree in Special Education in college. For Dr. Price, Kaitlin’s journey is a powerful example of the lasting impact Corporate Work Study can have. By exposing students to new environments and giving them opportunities to explore different roles within a school, the program helps them discover interests, develop new skills, and uncover career paths they may never have considered.

This year, Dr. Price’s goal is simple: “I want these students to fully understand the opportunities available to them and recognize the impact they can make.” Whether they leave East Clark with a new career interest, a stronger sense of confidence, or simply a better understanding of what it takes to be part of a school community, Dr. Price hopes each student’s time at the school serves as a stepping stone toward their long-term success.
