Class of 2019: Oh the Places You'll Go!

On Sunday, June 2, 78 members of the Class of 2019, graduated in front of family, friends, and teachers who filled the Slovenian National Home.

The Class of 2019 honored a long held tradition as they processed from Saint Martin down Saint Clair Avenue to the hall where they would be recognized for their accomplishments and receive their diplomas. This graduating class received 100% acceptance into college and over $4.5M in college scholarships to pursue their higher education. Keynote speaker, Reverend Courtney Clayton Jenkins, gave a captivating address that left everyone in the crowd on their feet in a standing ovation. She spoke about what it means to be a Lion and how you have to grow into your paws, be courageous, and follow your pride.

In addition to the conferral of diplomas, the highest student honors were announced including the Fr. Welsh Work-Study-Serve-Lead-Pray Award, won by valedictorian Kamarri Hall, Niyah Malone, and Emareion Trotter. Shane Cummings also received the Saint Martin Award as the senior who best demonstrates the quality of our patron, St. Martin de Porres. Congratulations Class of 2019 and we wish you the best of luck in college this fall!
