John Carroll University is deeply committed to service, much like Saint Martin, inspiring students to reach their fullest potential. Joe Ginley, the Sports Information Director at JCU, has recently taken on the role of Corporate Work Study Supervisor. Eager to embrace this challenge, he is dedicated to empowering his student associates to achieve their best.
While John Carroll University is one of Saint Martin’s founding Corporate Work Study partners and has hosted students in various departments since 2004, the Sports Information Department joined only last school year. Joe Ginley expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We wanted to get involved because I understand the impact we can have on Saint Martin students, and I wanted to be a part of that.”
One of the students benefiting from the Saint Martin - John Carroll partnership is DuJuan ‘26, who works closely with Ginley. DuJuan has taken on various responsibilities, including managing game notes for the JCU football team, creating social media graphics, and producing short videos. Ginley notes, “These are tasks I’d assign to college students, and DuJuan handles them like a true professional. It’s wonderful to have another set of hands, and it’s great to have him assist with so many tasks.” Through this experience, DuJuan is not only grasping the “why” behind his contributions but also acquiring valuable skills, such as proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, which will benefit him in the future.
As DuJuan develops his professional skills, John Carroll University is also focused on its growth, with a new athletic center set to open next winter. When asked how JCU plans to further engage with Corporate Work Study, Ginley responded, “We’d love for more Saint Martin students to potentially assist with the new building. There are many uncertainties regarding how scheduling will work in the new building, and having a Saint Martin student on board would be incredibly helpful for operations.” Ginley emphasized his commitment to strengthening the partnership with Saint Martin and involving more students in this exciting new phase.
John Carroll University’s commitment to service and community engagement is exemplified through its partnership with Corporate Work Study. With leaders like Joe Ginley, students like DuJuan are gaining essential skills and professional experience while contributing meaningfully to the university’s mission. As JCU prepares to expand its facilities, the potential for collaboration with more Saint Martin students is bright. This partnership not only enriches the lives of the students involved but also strengthens the fabric of both institutions, fostering a culture of preparing students for college, their careers, and life.
