Providing students of modest economic means with a college preparatory education aimed at helping young men and women develop the habits of mind and spirit that will enable them to be successful in college, in their careers, and in life.

Providing meaningful opportunities for professionals to interact with and mentor students while making a difference in their lives. Over 100 Cleveland-area businesses, firms, and non-profits have partnered with Saint Martin.

Saint Martin invites students into our school community who are committed to academic, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical growth. During the admissions process, Saint Martin reviews academic, disciplinary, and attendance records, as well as teacher recommendations.

While we are serious about preparing students for college and career success, we also believe that school should be fun! Caring for the whole student, we believe that involvement in extracurriculars is essential to continuing to form talented, well-rounded, and interesting individuals.

Q: If my student tests positive for COVID-19, will they be excused from school and CWS work assignments?

A: The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our first priority as we create our safe return-to-school plans. Should a student test positive for COVID-19, they will be invited to continue their school work in a remote capacity if possible. If this is not possible, we will create an academic success plan to ensure the student has ample time and resources to complete their missing assignments when they have recovered.

Q: If my freshmen does not have a CWS job assignment, what happens to their tuition?

A: Saint Martin de Porres High School received a grant to invest in the Corporate Work Study Program. The CWS Workforce Readiness Class will be funded by this grant. Therefore, freshmen students are still earning a significant portion of their tuition through the successful completion of this course. Tuition expectations will remain the same for freshmen families.

Q: What if I am uncomfortable sending my student to school while Cuyahoga County is in a Level 2 or 3 Public Health Alert?

A: While Saint Martin de Porres High School feels confident that the layered health and safety guidelines implemented on campus will create a safe learning environment, we welcome a conversation regarding your additional concerns. Please contact Principal Ryan Hurley at rhurley@stmdphs.org to speak more.

Q: May my student opt for a face shield instead of a face mask?

A: No. According to the CDC, it is not known if face shields provide any benefit as source control to protect others from the spray of respiratory particles. The CDC does not recommend use of face shields as a substitute for cloth face coverings. Therefore, students will not be permitted to use face shields in place of face masks. However, a student would be welcome to wear a face shield in addition to a face mask.

Q: I am currently experiencing financial constraints due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is there assistance available for uniforms and tuition?

A: We would be happy to discuss financial assistance and payment options. Please contact the Business Office at 216-881-1689.

Q: If visitors are not allowed, how will I pay my student’s tuition?

A: We are now able to accept electronic payments over the phone. Please call the Business Office at 216-881-1689. If you need to submit payment in person, please call ahead and we will welcome you to visit the Annex with a face mask.

Q: Will my student be able to receive an RTA bus pass this year?

A: As has occurred in the past, CMSD will be providing us with either bus cards or passes for individual students that qualify.
