Q What are the Weekly Meal Packs that Saint Martin has A been o ering students during remote learning?
We were so excited to continue providing healthy food
for our students even when we were apart in remote learning. Our Weekly Meal Packs included breakfast, lunch, fruit, juice, and snacks for all 7 days of the week. Students were allowed to sign up for meals not only for themselves, but also for any sibling or child in their household under
the age of 18. Students had to sign up on our website by Wednesday of each week and could come pick up their weekly pack of food on Fridays from 7:30am-6:00pm. We are all in awe of our AVI Chef, Susan Jacklitch, who created and organized literally hundreds of to-go meals every week! We are still o ering meal packs for our students who chose to stay remote for the Spring semester.
Q How have the Weekly Meal Packs impacted our A families?
The food packs have been a lifesaver for our students!
We have so many parents come in each week and tell us how much this means to their families. Many parents are working around the clock as essential workers and don’t want to leave their kids at home to gure out meals for themselves. Our meal packs ensure our students AND their younger siblings have healthy meals for every day of the week.
Q Why are the Food Pantry and Weekly Meal Packs important to our school’s mission?
It’s a sign of God’s grace in our world! It’s a source of community building outside of the regular school day

Chef Susan Jacklitch is ready to pass out Weekly Meal Packs to families
and an opportunity to interact with our neighbors. One of the tenets of Jesuit education is called “Cura personalis,” meaning care for the whole person. We see our students and families not just as partners in educating minds and hearts, but also caring in an all-inclusive way for their bodies and spirits. We also recognize that many people in the zip code where Saint Martin is located su er from diseases that accompany obesity and poor nutrition. We want to help our students, families, and neighborhood have access to healthy food in an area where there is no easily accessible grocery store for residents who do not have a car.
