Saint Martin de Porres High School is seeking a full-time Assistant Principal of Academics & Faculty to be part of an innovative college-prep and career readiness high school experience.


Saint Martin de Porres High School is part of the Cristo Rey Network of Catholic schools designed exclusively for students of modest means. Our competitive edge is our Corporate Work study program, which allows students to gain real world work experience while receiving a college preparatory education. Eighty percent of our students will be the first in their extended families to go to college. Our rigorous curriculum, which includes students working in a corporate environment, was designed specifically for our school by a committee of prestigious educational leaders. Saint Martin was founded in 2004, we are chartered by the state of Ohio and accredited through the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association. The Assistant Principal of Academics & Faculty plays an integral role on the Academic Leadership Team and leads the implementation of school-wide systems and structures that support Saint Martin’s college-preparatory academic culture ensuring the learning environment is academically rigorous and aligned to the school’s strategic vision to drive student learning and support continual improvement measures for students, families, faculty and staff. Using data to drive student achievement, the Assistant Principal of Academics and Faculty is responsible for ensuring Saint Martin graduates are college prepared and career ready by aligning our school-wide assessment practices, increasing academic rigor, and increasing family engagement with faculty. The Assistant Principal of Academics & Faculty will oversee the retention, recruitment, hiring and evaluation of faculty as well as support and supervise the Department Chairs and supports facilitation of school-wide professional learning by supervising the Director of Professional Learning and Induction Coordinator to provide content area best practices that ensure a college preparatory academic experience that is on-grade level, data-driven, and culturally responsive through summer trainings, 1:1 and small group teacher and teacher-leader coaching, book studies, and afterschool professional development sessions. This individual will also serve as a liaison with families, students, and teachers to drive holistic engagement strategies. This individual must function effectively as a member of the Academic Leadership Team and must work well with an evidenced cultural competency and an equity mindset.


This is a general representation of the key duties and responsibilities required of this position. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Develop, implement and oversee Saint Martin’s curriculum and assessment programs in accordance with annual school goals and objectives, State of Ohio graduation requirements, Cristo Rey Network standards and objectives, as well as with applicable State and Federal laws (40%).
  • Support the academic achievement of all students and ensure they graduate college ready by incorporating, designing, and coordinating a strong college-going culture and student support services with a Response to Intervention (RTI) approach (20%).
  • Lead the development of classroom cultures aligned with our school-wide commitment to restorative practices by collaborating with the Assistant Principal for Student Culture and Discipline (20%).
  • Assist the Principal in creating a positive, supportive, and safe school community (20%).
  • Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary to the successful operation of the school.


  • Extensive and meaningful experience working with students in an urban setting including previous classroom experience as a full time teacher.
  • 3+ years of experience in school administration or other educational leadership role including:
    • Experience management and evaluation of faculty and staff.
    • Experience in a secondary educational environment with demonstrated success of effective student engagement and learning.
  • 2+ years of leadership involvement on school improvement initiatives specifically related to academic improvement.
  • Experience serving on a school leadership team.


  • Extensive and meaningful experience working with students in an urban setting including previous classroom experience as a full-time teacher.
  • 3+ years of experience as a school administration or other educational leadership role.
  • 2+ years of leadership involvement on school improvement initiatives specifically related to academic improvement.
