Mr. Martin Coggin

Martin (Marty) Coggin joined Saint Martin de Porres in 2005.  He primarily teaches Biology, though he has been known to teach a Read 180 class now and then.  Among his many duties: he is the Chair of the Disciplinary Review Board, serves on the Admissions Decision Committee, and serves on the Teacher Advisory board.  However, his favorite position is as moderator of the Saint Martin Chess Club.

Marty took his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1998.  He then spent a year teaching English at Xi'an Institute of Foreign Studies, in Xi'an, People's Republic of China.  Upon his return to the U.S., Marty completed a Master of Science degree at Bowling Green State University.  He then spent a couple of years teaching chemistry and A.P. biology in Maryland.  When he returned to Cleveland, he began work on his Masters in Education at Cleveland State University.  He expects to finish his degree work in the summer of 2008.

Marty has been married for seven years to Hadley Schrieber Coggin.  They have one daughter, Mary Margaret (Maggie), born in June of 2007.  Even though this comes at the end of the bio, Marty says that his family is the most important thing about him now.
